LEADING LADY

LATONYA LATRICE PATTERSON, a mobile Alabama native born April 25, 1980, is the eldest of 3 children on her mother’s side and the eldest of 10 on her father's. Not having a father figure caused her to see things differently in life, enduring things growing up that a little girl shouldn’t. Those encounters caused her to be different, unique and the black sheep. In 1998 after graduating from Murphy High School, instead of furthering her education like her mother wanted, she moved out and got a job as a library page After an illness she was told that motherhood was out of the question for her, becoming angry she began to live a reckless and different lifestyle. Early in life she started experiencing toxic relationships she still continued to give men more love than they should and became involved in a full time physical, verbal, emotional, and mentally abusive relationship with them thinking that was her worth.

From 2000-2007 she gave birth to 4 beautiful children; 1 boy and 3 girls all through a category five hurricane of life. From the age of 20 to 27 she raised her children on her own while in and out of violent and toxic relationships with a variety of men. In 2007 she looked back at her life, praying more and trusting God because he had the last say over her life. She enrolled in a CNA course and completed it in 2008 while raising 4 children the youngest being 2 ½ months old. Three months later she started working and met a friend Shundretta Patterson and who drastically changed her life. She never thought she would fall so deeply in love with a friend let alone of the same sex, that showed her, her worth and helped to make all her dreams a reality. In 2008 they began their journey as a couple, it wasn't easy but they made it, by 2012 they were married. From 2008 to 2012 Shundretta helped her begin a music career, helping to humble her from built up anger and showing her worth. They started a successful business that was interrupted with a diagnosis of fibromyalgia that altered her music career and lifestyle, sending her into a deep depression unable to care for herself; this took a toll on the whole family.

With time she learned her body and was able to adapt with the illness and they, in 2015 decided to adopt a baby so that Shundretta could experience motherhood for herself. Their son was born early and ill, but nothing they couldn't handle together content and happy for months later their son had to seizures and was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Now coping with her illness and her child she slip back into depression. Determined to take her life back again she got closer to God. Her illness detoured her music career but not her gifts.
